Lauren McCluskey is delighted to be speaking at the STEPS Amputee Conference 2024: From Injury to Independence. This one-day conference will explore rehabilitation following amputation and polytrauma injuries. This is an essential event for case managers, solicitors, and insurers working with clients following amputation.
Lauren will be one of the many key experts speaking at the event. She will be presenting a session alongside her client – Ruby Flanagan - who suffered an amputee injury following a road traffic collision in August 2021. Ruby was just 24 when she was involved in a pedestrian collision while she was pushing her 5-month-old son, Leon, across a zebra crossing. Fortunately, she had the presence of mind to push her son out of the way, but she was crushed between two vehicles, leaving her with life-changing injuries.
Ruby was airlifted to Aintree Hospital immediately following the accident. Her right leg was amputated, and her left leg had significant injuries that required extensive treatment and a lengthy hospital stay.
As Ruby’s Case Manager, Lauren will be discussing her injuries and sharing her expertise as a specialist amputee case manager. As both an occupational therapist and rehabilitation case manager, Lauren will draw on her unique and extensive history in the sector.
The conference is taking place on October 3, 2024, in York. Tickets are on sale now, with all profits being donated to the STEPS Rehabilitation Foundation.
